The apartment is located in the 4 Vallies ski region, linking Verbier, Nendaz, Veysonnaz and Thyon. With high snow- sure slopes it is suitable for everyone from beginners to off-piste mogul lovers!! A thirty second stroll from the apartment is the new cable car that whisks you to the top of the slopes at Tracouet. This is the meeting point for the Ski School and there is a great mountain restaurant with stunning mountain views..........perfect for a simple meal or a warming vin chaud ! The easy wide open blue piste at the top of the mountain is perfect to find your snow legs, join the red half way down and ski back to the apartment, or take the lift up to Plan -du Fou for some heart stopping black runs with mogul fields to challenge the most able of skiers. From here you ski down to Tortin and take the lift up to Chassoure and ski the Verbier region, including the notorious Mont Fort at 3330m. Outside the Tele Cabin is the bus to take you to Siviez, a lovely hamlet with some of the best blue runs we have ever seen. From Siviez you can also access the entire Veysonnaz and Thyon ski region or take the lift from Tortin across to Verbier. Less than 3 minutes walk from the apartment (down the lane and turn right) is Neige Adventure, they run an excellent ski school , have great mountain guides and the most up to date ski equipment, both for hire and for sale. www.neige-adventure.ch -skiers. During the summer months there is also plenty to do, visit Sion, just 15 minutes drive or bus ride from the apartment The two castles perched on the hillside are truly spectacular, there are galleries and museums, Roman ruins and the Friday market, full of local produce should not be missed! Montreux, sandwiched between the hillside vineyards and the glorious Lake Geneva is a wonderful place, an hour by train or car from the apartment. Castle Chilon, built in the 11th centaury and perched on the edge of the lake is an amazing place to visit. A trip on one of the paddle steamers around the lake, stopping at Lusanne is also great fun. The Christmas market in Montreux is perfect for gifts and the Montreux Jazz festival in July, fabulous! You can also discovers the underground subterranean lake of Saint-Leonard, the largest underground navigable lake in Europe, as well as Leukerbad - the largest Alpine thermal spa center in Europe. Set amidst the fascinating Valais mountains at approx. 1,400 meters above sea level, Leukerbad is home to 22 thermal pools offering the perfect location for Alpine relaxation, and to ease the pains of a hard weeks skiing. The region around the apartment has a number of dedicated cycle routes, during the summer months the lifts can carry you and your bike to the top of the mountain, from there you can cruise down the well marked routes, or for those with better muscles than me, cycle up as well as down!!! Bikes and helmets plus excellent maps can be hired from Neige Adventure, see www.neige-adventure.ch The Golf Club Sion golf is only 20 minutes by car from Nendaz. Located in the the heart of the Rhone valley, its 18-hole course benefits from a sunny and warm climate. The natural characteristics of the site have been preserved in order to offer a unique experience in a truly authentic setting.
