The main town of Fethyie with its harbour and seafront is 15 minutes away by dolmus. The town has a fish market where you can buy your seafood fresh and have it cooked and served by one of the many restaurants for 3 Lira (£1.20), that even includes salad and garlic bread. The harbour has boat trips to all the islands including Rhodes.

There are numerous trips / excursions that can be had, including the Dalyan river mud baths, Saklikent gorge, the ancient roman ruined city of Ephesus, and the calcium mountains and spas of Pamukale. For those who enjoy walking and culture the deserted Greek village of Kayakoy is at the base of the mountain (approx 2km, also served by bus). The original Greek occupants were repatriated to Greece and the village has been unoccupied ever since. The outskirts of the village boasts several traditional Turkish restaurants serving delicious local cuisine. There are many coves and beaches, which can be reached via the tracks in the pine forest. The best way to see this is via a horse riding day trip.

For the more adventurous there is para gliding from Mount Babadag, water sports, including diving or snorkelling. 4 x 4 safaris, quad biking, white water rafting and many more, mad cap sports.

Oludeniz is the most photographed beach in the tourist industry and can be found on the front cover of most brochures. What they don't show are the many, even more spectacular, private beaches surrounding the Blue lagoon. These beaches and the lagoon can be accessed for a small fee (80p). All have beach bars and places to eat. However if you wish to take your own picnic, feel free! The bars and restaurants of Oludeniz come alive at night and provide an excellent alternative night out. The Dolmuses run until the early hours. If you miss those a taxi would set you back a fiver for up to 4.

Hisaronu / Central Hisaronu area

Hisaronu it located on a plateau a couple of kilometres above the famous Oludeniz beach, with its blue lagoon. Dolmuses run every 5 or 10 minutes. The plateau itself is very flat and easy on the legs. The area is served by an array of restaurants and bars, catering for all tastes and budgets. A typical 3 course meal comes in at less than £7. (22oz T Bone steak from as little as £6.50). There are also a number of Chinese and Indian restaurants where you can eat as much as you like for £6. There are many Turkish restaurants serving typical fayre.

The lamb dish’s are a must. A large beer is just over a pound, or less. Generally the cost of living is half the price of UK. Hisaronu has an abundance of shops selling everything from Turkish artefacts to fake designer gear. There is also a weekly market on Monday. Leave plenty of room in your suitcases.
