As the name so rightly describes, Schönwalde lies right beside a fantastic forest. The Schönwalde settlement was designed and subdivided in 1932. Many new houses and villas have come up since this turn lending a very beautiful character to the place. These properties are very large and we have an old forestland, on which there are partially oaks and partially bays, which are indicated as natural monuments and are already 400 years old. We have a historical inn in the place which was built 222 years ago and was used as a change station for horses of the stagecoaches on the way to Hamburg. You have many recreational facilities in the vicinity of Schönwalde, the Havel lakes can be reached within approx. 30 minutes by bicycle. We are located directly on the city limit of Berlin-Spandau. Therefore, you have peace and quiet and the big city but in the immediate proximity. Berlin is famous for its water wealth-- steamboat excursions are therefore a must.
Berlin has a lot to offer in Autumn and Winter.  A lot of museums and exhibitions invite you to visit. The various Christmas markets in the several urban districts of Berlin and in the surrounding regions are also lovely. The streets under the lime trees and Kurfürstendamm are a feast for the eyes during Christmas time. During this time you can shop almost round-the-clock long past the closing times of the shops in Berlin. Berlin is always open.
Berlin and its surroundings offer many water sport facilities. Water tours are possible from Schönwalde - please inquire. If you own a canoe or rubber dinghy, bring it along. They can be placed in our garden. Riders and Polo players are in good hands with us. The Seeburg Polo field (approx. 12 km) and the Dallgow-Döberitz stud farm (7 km) are not far away. Horses can be kept there. Riders have various options for rides in the surroundings. There are stables in the next place where you can hire your horse.
Theodor Fontane had already praised the wonderful landscape of Brandenburg in his 'Wanderungen durch die Mark Brandenburg'. Whether 'per Pedes' - as the Berliners say - or with the bicycle, you have a very beautiful landscape here, which - even without big hills - is wonderful to deal with for everyone. Bring along your bicycles or rent them from us, we have 3 bicycles for our guests in the 'Stall'.
