Dar Soulahfa nestles in the tiny streets and alleyways that make up the very heart of the ancient Medina of Marrakech, the district is the most highly regarded located just south of the main square, Place Djemaa el-Fna. Though the square is just a five minute walk the riad is positioned at the end of a pedestrian only street and provides an unusually quite oasis that feels a million miles from the busy city just outside the door.

 

The house is a well established holiday rental and has been providing very comfortable accommodation within a traditional riad house for many years. The location really sets this house apart with all the old city has to offer with very easy walking distance, great for children. The interiors are quite charming, designed to reflect the exotic city itself, and offer a chance to immerse yourself in the distinctive Moroccan style. Dar Soulahfa is available only on an exclusive rental basis so the entire house is yours to enjoy, wonderfully romantic for a couple, spacious enough for a small group of friends, and ideal for a family holiday.

 

The accommodation is spread over 2 floors with an open courtyard at the centre of the house. Here you find the plunge pool, essential for the hot summer months as is the air conditioning in each of the bedrooms. From the courtyard there is access to a double bedroom, a bathroom with bath and separate shower, an additional shower room as well as the kitchen from which the cook produces the most fantastic traditional dishes.

 

A flight of stairs lead to the first floor where the majority of the living space can be found. A large, covered loggia that opens through traditional arches to a balcony which over looks the pool below is home to a seating area and a dining table. The loggia gives access to two further double bedrooms that connect via an en-suite shower room. At this level there is also a stunning salon decorated to evoke the interior of a palace harem, with huge lanterns, Moroccan seating and a rich mix of colours and textures, this is the ideal place to spend hedonistic evenings. During the winter months the staff will light the open fire and leave a supply of Olive wood logs to warm the chilly evenings.

 

A further flight of stairs take you to the roof terrace planted with colourful flowers and palms, a Berber tent with traditional hand-painted ceiling and Moroccan style seating provides a shady retreat from the sun. A dining table is ideal for breakfast or a moon lit dinner under the stars with the distant sounds of music and the call to prayer drifting across the city. There are sunbeds for the sun worshippers and a shower to help you stay cool. The large terrace is a great feature of the house providing generous and private outside space.

 

To ensure your stay in Marrakech is as relaxed and rewarding as possible the house has a staff of three to look after both the house and the guests, none of our staff live at the house but visit each day at times agreed with you, there will be plenty of opportunity to make the place really feel like home.

We have a maid who will clean and tidy the house daily, a cook who will provide the inclusive breakfast and be available to prepare lunch or dinner if you require. Atiqa is a wonderful cook whose dishes rival any restaurant at a very reasonable cost, paid locally.

 

There is also a houseman who will meet you at the airport and organize your transfer to the house. He serves all meals at the house and can help you to arrange any activities both in the city or further afield if you wish.
