Thiviers is a market town and commune in the Dordogne département of France. Dordogne is a department in central France named after the Dordogne River. The Dordogne is a  region of South West France Between the Loire valley and the High Pyrénées named after the river  that runs through it. However, locally it is known as the Périgord.
