Property Description

CHATEAU VARY

The estate has been in the Sauve family for five generations. It is set in 175 acres of grounds consisting of garden, landscaped parkland, forest, and farmland. Accommodation is of the highest quality, elegantly furnished, with each unit designed to promote its individual character. Careful conversion of an estate stables ensures the character of a beautiful country estate has been retained, whilst providing a unique holiday setting.
 

We received guests for the first time in 1986 when the main house downstairs apartment was first opened (Chateau Bas).
The outstanding grounds of landscaped parkland were first designed more than eighty years ago, with imported trees such as the Japanese Tulip and unusual varieties such as the 20 metre tall Magnolia trees.

 

The accomodation comprises of the Chateau Haut (sleeps 10) , Chateau Bas (sleeps 6) , Ecurie (sleeps 6) , Sellerie (sleeps 6) and Studio (sleeps 6).
 

First Floor Apartment - four bedrooms sleeps 6/10

This is entered via the main steps into the lounge. To the left is the dining room. The dining room leads through to the kitchen and also to the large shaded terrace with barbecue and garden furniture. The kitchen has a dishwasher, washing machine, gas cooker, microwave, iron and board, fridge.There is a TV + DVD  and a Wc in the corridor. On the second floor there are four bedrooms, two of which have double bed and en-suite bathrooms no wc. The third has twin beds and ensuite shower room no wc. The fourth has twin beds and a set of bunk beds. On the same floor is a shower room with WC.  Bed linen is included within the rental price, towels mayby hired. 

With three bedrooms sleeping six

L'Ecurie has a ground floor living area of 75m2 with a central staircase dividing the kitchen/dining area from the lounge. The fitted kitchen is fully equipped with a gas hob with electric oven, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, iron and board, TV, DVD and fridge. It has a downstairs WC, upstairs bathroom has a shower and a bath with washbasin, and WC and three bedrooms - one double and two twin. Bed linen is included within the rental price, towels mayby rented.

The area offers the true flavore of the rural France, with interesting market towns, excellent restaurants, a wide range of wines and of course the Grand Chateaux.

FROM ST MALO / ROSCOFF: St Malo: Follow the road to Rennes (N137).  Roscoff: Follow the motorway to Rennes (N12) and from here take the autoroute A81 towards Le Mans. Leave the autoroute at Laval - junction 3, and take the D21 to Sable–s–Sarthe. Join the autoroute A11 at junction 10, getting off at junction 12 and following the local directions shown below.

FROM CHERBOURG: Take either the route via Caen (N13) or leave this and take the route St Lo (N174), Avranches (N176), Fougeres (N798) to Laval (N162 ) to Chateau-Gontier, the D859 to Chateauneuf-sur Sarthes then D74 to Seiches sur le loir – D766 to Jarze.

FROM CAEN: Take the route towards Caen on the Caen bypass. Before arriving in Caen head south to Falaise/Argentan (N158), leading on to Alencon and then Le Mans. Travel time 3.5 hours.

FROM TOURS AIRPORT: Go right at the 1st roundabout and follow the Industrial bypass over a further 5 roundabouts and at the 6th one turn right on to the N138. At the traffic lights in La Membrolle follow the D959 towards Chateau la Valliere. Just out of the town turn left on to the D766 towards Noyant and keep going until you reach Bauge. Go through the town and follow the D766 to Jarze. Take the first left to the centre of Jarze, then follow the local directions shown below.

FROM CALAIS: Take the A16 towards Abbeville. Before reaching Abbeville take the A28 to Rouen.  In Rouen go over the bridge and turn right under the bridge N138 (towards Paris) – Carry on straight over the next 2 roundabouts - you will join the motorway A13 towards Caen. After about 10 -15 mins you will turn to take the A28 to Le Mans.  At Le Mans follow the A11 motorway towards Angers.  Exit at J12 – towards Seiches Sur Loire.
Approximate travel time 4.5 hours

LOCAL DIRECTIONS:
Leave the A11 motorway at junction 12 Seiches Sur Loir, turn right to Jarze. Go to the centre of the village and turn right on a tight corner towards Sermaise (D59). Leaving the village take the first right, there is a sign for Chateau Vary (after the silage storage grounds and opposite a white house), Chateau Vary is at the top of the incline on your left.

The Property collectively known as Château Vary and our villas in the Vendee, are offered for rental by Paul and Benedicte Goodwin ('The Owners') to the renter ('The Client') under the following conditions. (All other properties advertised in this brochure and on the website www.chateauvary.com are not the responsibility of Paul and Benedicte Goodwin. Direct payment should be made to these accommodation providers, the payment of which signifies a contract between two parties not associated with Paul and Benedicte Goodwin)

PRICES

All prices quoted are per house per week. There are no other hidden charges levied by the Owners.

PAYMENTS

Reservations made by phone, fax or email will be held for 7 working days. A contract only comes into existence when we have received a deposit in the form of a cheque together with a signed Booking Form and we have issued a written confirmation of the booking. The outstanding balance must be paid eight (8) weeks before the start of your holiday. If your holiday falls within this 8 week period, payment must be made in full. If payment is not received on the due date, the Owners reserve the right to treat the booking as cancelled by you and the dates will be offered to other interested parties. All deposits are non-refundable. We strongly advise you to take out adequate insurance to cover any loss or damage you may incur. We offer holiday insurance at competitive rates

CANCELLATION BY YOU

Will result in the loss of the deposit. If we receive notice of cancellation less than eight weeks before your holiday start date, you will be charged the full amount due unless we can re-let the property.  If we re-let, we will retain the deposit to cover expenses. We strongly advise you to take out adequate insurance to cover this eventuality. Please inform us immediately by telephone and confirm your cancellation in writing. If after we have issued a Booking Confirmation, you wish to alter your booking, please let us know immediately. We will endeavour to accommodate you, but this may not be possible. This service may incur extra charges.

CANCELLATION BY US

In the unlikely event that we have to cancel your booking or there are major changes to it due to matters beyond our control which are not covered below, we will advise you as soon as possible and will endeavour to offer you suitable alternative accommodation. If this is not possible, or you do not wish to accept the alternatives offered, we will give you a complete refund of all monies paid.

ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE

On the day of arrival, check-in time is between 14:00 and 20:00. Access to the properties cannot be gained outside of these hours without prior arrangement with the Owners.  Please vacate your property by 10:00 on the day of departure.    The changeover day is Saturday unless stated otherwise. If you wish to leave before 06:00, please notify the Owners beforehand. If you arrive at an unreasonable hour without notification and are unable to gain access to the property, we cannot be held responsible for any costs incurred for alternative overnight accommodation. All the properties are cleaned and checked before letting, however you are responsible for cleaning the property before leaving.  Cleaners are available on early request (at a charge) if needed. Any complaints regarding the property must be notified within 24 hours of arrival.

PETS

We regret that pets are not accepted under any circumstances.

DAMAGE AND BREAKAGE DEPOSITS

Should you or other members of your party or guests cause any damage to the property, its contents, grounds, or any third party then you will be deemed responsible for such damage. We strongly advise you to take out insurance to cover such an eventuality. Should you find any of the amenities listed in the property description damaged or broken, please bring it to the Owners attention immediately to avoid any later repercussions. A breakage deposit of £100 in the form of a cheque is required with your final balance.  All monies paid to the Owners as breakage deposits are the property of the Owners and will be returned within 7 days of your departure, less any deductions for breakages or cleaning if applicable. Clients are responsible at all times for the safety and behaviour of their children.

FORCE MAJEUR

We cannot accept liability in any circumstances where performance of the contract is prevented by reason of: war or threat of war, riots, civil strife, terrorist activities, industrial disputes, natural or nuclear disasters, fire, flood or adverse weather conditions, acts of God, closure of ports or airports, epidemics, government action or any similar events outside our control.

COMPLAINTS

If a problem arises, please notify the Owners immediately. No complaint will be entertained unless it is raised with the Owners personally within 24 hours of arrival. We reserve the right to terminate a booking at any time if any of these conditions are not met in full and you will be asked to leave the property. Please check all details of your booking confirmation carefully. A signed booking form is taken as proof that you have read, understood and agree with the above Terms and Conditions and will abide by them. Under no circumstances shall the Owners liability to the Client exceed the amount paid to the Owner for the rental period. English Law shall govern this contract in all its aspects.
