Zakynthos is the most southerly of the Ionian Islands and enjoys over 300 days of sun (over 8.5 hours per day) a year. The summers are hot and dry, often with a cooling breeze. Winters are short and mild with most rainfall between December and February but even during this time there are many days with cloudless skies.
There is something for everybody close by.Enjoy the varied night life, tour the island, enjoy one of the many cruises around the island, shop or stroll in Zakynthos town, learn to sail, try diving, enjoy the many water sports, go fishing go cycling, go hiking, go horse riding or simply relax on one of the many beautiful beaches.
There are also an increasing number of eco-tourist activities available including a superb Catamaran Cruise in the Caretta-Caretta (Loggerhead) turtle habitat of Laganas Bay. Cruise from Zakynthos port to Porto Roma, around Gerakas Cape and towards Pelouzo Island through Laganas Bay to Keri and finally Marathonisi Island.


The apartment is located in a quiet village setting at the foot of the mountains that rise above Lithakia and next to the former site of the Agia Marina church of which now only the bell tower remains.

Lithakia is located 10kms from the town of Zakynthos. The village has not been spoilt by tourism and remains traditional, quiet and relaxing. It is one of the richest villages in Zakynthos with its wealth having been built on agriculture The airport is 9.5km (6mls), the port and city of Zakynthos are 10km (6.25mls) and the nearest beach, Agios Sostis, is 2 km (1.25mls).

On the main square of the village less than 100m from the apartment you will find a public phone, a well stocked supermarket with much local produce, a mini-market and cafe. At the Lithakia crossroads 700m from the apartment you will find Cafe Relax snack bar, Dennis Taverna which serves excellent traditional Greek food all year round and the Corner Cafe; where you can have a coffee, drink, ice cream or snack. Also at the crossroads are a post office, public phone, pharmacy and petrol station. A bakery is 500m from the apartment.
 

The well known Byzantine church of Faneromi, built during the 14th century has remarkable icons and an impressive wooden gilded chancel screen.
The springs at the top of the village are renowned throughout the island for the purity and quality of the water.
The nearest beaches are at Agios Sostis, Porto Koukla, Kaminia, Keri and Kalamaki.

There are several excellent traditional, friendly, family run restaurants with serving local food and wine very close by.For the evenings you don't feel like going out the local psistaria will deliver excellent charcoal grilled meals to your door.
