The apartment is one of three within a very large traditional townhouse, totally upgraded/refurbished to the highest standards with quality rustic windows, doors, furniture and luxury bed linen/towels. Ugijar is one of the largest whitewashed Alpujarran villages nestling in the mountains 40 minutes between the Sierra Nevada mountain range famous for its ski resorts and the Costa Tropical beaches.

Today you still see workers with their mules working the land and harvesting their almonds and olives. The beauty of the mountains, the sun that always shines, the beautiful views with vast blossom and fruit trees ,and the kind, generous people all make this district a wonderful area to visit. 

 

Traditions that go back to the Moors are still present in the gastronomy of the towns. “Tapas” are still a custom served FREE when indulging on a cold pint of beer or glass of wine in the area, and the cost of living in general is very favorable compared with coastal resorts and of course the UK.

Nature walks, scenic drives, horseback riding, skiing, enjoying the sea and sun are of many activities one can enjoy while visiting this area. There are also lots of wonderful open air village pools for use by visitors for a very nominal fee, some with breathtaking views.

 

This is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the slower more relaxed pace of Spain as it once was, unspoilt, friendly and honest.

The property is on a quiet but very important street in the middle of Ugijar, right amongst all the shops/bars/restaurants/banks/pharmacy etc. 1 hour from Almeria Airport and 1.5 hours from Granada Airport. There are lots of bargain flights from various airlines/airports where car hire is available, or airport pick ups can be arrnaged. There are lots of beaches including some of Europe's last remaining unspoilt beaches within easy driving distance. Puerto De La Ragua is one of the lower ski resorts in the area which is only 40mins away. The GR7 walking route from Portugal to Greece is 5 mins from the village. There is a village pool/bar open in the Summer months, and many other beautiful village pools in the nearby villages. Many markets in the area, a lot weekly, include Ugijar market 5th & 20th of every month and the area boasts many fiestas which go on till the next morning.
