The farmhouse is located in the Republic of Ireland about 600 meters from the border with Northern Ireland, equidistant from the airports in Dublin and Belfast (about 90km) and just 4km from the M1/A1 motorway route. Parts of it are about 250 years old and It is roomy and cosy. The area is mountainous and dominated by sheep-farming, but with considerable forest and wild scrubland so the bird life is fantastic. The house is an ideal base for hill-walkers with trails to the Cooley and Fathom mountain ranges starting at the end of the lane. The Mournes range is a 40-minute drive, and there are also 8 golf courses within a 15-km radius. The medieval (partly walled) village of Carlingford with almost a dozen good restuarants is about 8km, but there is a fine pub-restuarant just 800m away. |
