Property Description

A typical Spanish villge house which has recently been completely renovated and consists of a through lounge with fireplace. The lounge leads to a hallway with glass sliding doors opening out onto the terrace, which has a clear view across the valley and over to the start of the Tabernas desert. Off the hallway is the kitchen, dining room, downstairs bathroom and stairs leading up to the main bedroom with en-suite bathroom and the second double bedroom with views over the valley.

Huecija is one of the oldest villages in the Alpucharas and dates back to Roman times. It is in the area of the Valle Medio del Andarax, which stretches along the slopes of the Sierra de Gador in lovely scenery which includes fertile land with vines and fruit trees and also desert-like terrain. The village stands amidst this, one of the most aristocratic villages of the province in which the Parish Church and the Augustine Convent stand out.

The village has about 560 inhabitants and is about 30 km to Almeria and the coast. It is around 425 m above sea-level. There is one pub, one restaurant, three shops, a church and the (disused) Convent of the Agustinos with its magnificent tower, unique in the region, which was founded in 1511.
